World Tuberculosis (TB) Day is celebrated every year on 24 March. The main purpose of celebrating World Tuberculosis(TB) Day is to inform people about TB and also to know about the impact of TB on their health, society and the country's economy. The theme or theme of The theme of World TB Day 2020 is “It's TIME” . The objective of the TB Day theme of the year 2019 is that people with information about TB prevention and treatment methods and access to treatment to all should reach more and more people as soon as possible.

The main objective of celebrating World TB Day is also that with the awareness of this, adequate funding is ensured to the institutions and the government should provide TB treatment without any discrimination to the last person of the society with its accountability.
On March 24, Dr. Robert Koch, a German physician and microbiologist, surprised the scientific fraternity by announcing that he had discovered the reason behind tuberculosis of TB bacillus. He had shared his discovery with a group of scientists at the Sanitation Institute of the University of Berlin.
In 1982, 100 years after the discovery of Robert Koch, the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD) recommended March 24 as World TB Day. However, World TB Day was officially marked by the WHO's World Health Assembly and the United Nations as an annual event after a decade.
In 1995, the WHO joined hands with the Royal Netherlands Tuberculosis Foundation (KNCV) to host the inaugural World TB Day advocacy meeting at Den Haig, the Netherlands. He continued this phenomenon over the next few years. A year later, WHO, KNCV, IUATLD and other related organizations came together to host other important activities around World TB Day. In 1997, when World Health's TB control program DOTS was declared a health success, the first World Tuberculosis Day was officially observed by the WHO. 1998 is an important year in the history of World TB Day. It was the year WHO first saw 20 countries hosting the world's most TB patients.
What Is The WHO Strategy For TB?
The WHO's strategy for TB is very clear. WHO has launched a campaign called 'The End TB Strategy' which aims to rid the world of the epidemic like TB. Similar to this strategy, the WHO is working on reducing TB deaths by 95 percent by 2035, and reducing new TB cases by 90 percent. Under this strategy, objectives have been set for every 5 years. The objective is to reduce TB deaths by 35 percent by 2020 and new TB cases by 20 percent. The same objective has been kept at 90 and 80 percent for 2025 respectively. With these objectives, the WHO has prepared an action plan to end TB by 2035.
Three Main Things In The Strategy Of Making The World TB Free
The first objective is that special care centers should be set up and special arrangements made for TB patients. The second objective is that all countries of the world take meaningful steps regarding TB and work on systems to eliminate TB. The third main objective is to conduct extensive research on TB and also to include innovation.
The main principles of the WHO strategy, if seen, are to reduce TB deaths and prevent new cases. Also advocates effective action plans and changes in all countries of the world to end TV.
